Pastels Gallery - Explore My Pastel Artworks

I've been experimenting a lot with different pastels and techniques, and I’ve developed my own unique bonded glass powders drawing surface. Here’s what I’ve created so far. Enjoy!

In July of 2016, a couple of my multi-talented glass students encouraged me to try painting Plein Air as part of the local Lavender Festival. Why not? I gave it a shot, but my inexpensive colored sticks on newsprint didn’t look very appealing. I was kindly informed that I really needed some decent pastels, and it was suggested that I explore sanded pastel paper. Oh my! What a difference! I was hooked. I often tell my students that they should go home and create 100 glass tiles. It’s an excellent way to quickly develop your skills. Following my own advice, I am actively producing pastels, taking classes, reading Richard Schmid’s “Alla Prima” (a must-read for any artist), watching YouTube tutorials, and drawing, drawing, drawing.
