The TriMet Hillsboro Transit Center features historic photographs on glass that are screen printed and kiln fired, then mounted in thermal panes secured to the exterior wall niches.
There are 14 historic photographs on glass depicting old Hillsboro, screen printed on glass and kiln fired for permanence, then mounted in thermal panes secured to the exterior wall niches of the TriMet Hillsboro Transit Center. I was the artist who produced these images on glass back in 1997 when Hillsboro Central was originally built, and I still have the original silk-screens. When it came time to restore the scratched panels, TriMet approached me, and I was awarded the restoration contract. I removed, repaired, rebuilt, and installed the glass panels, applying a new high-tech Diamond Guard surface to minimize future damage. This project spanned seven months, from December 2015 to July 2016.
