12' x 11' glass and wood Amenity Center wall for Del Webb at - Mirehaven
in Albuquerque, NM June 2016
The 12' x 11' glass and wood Amenity Center wall for Del Webb at - Mirehaven in Albuquerque, NM was designed by Amber Bryan - Kimberly Timmons Interiors Denver CO. I was awarded the fabrication / installation contract. I suggested to Amber that we texture the panels and she liked the idea. I built a cylindrical roller that imparted a design when rolled across a bed of sand. The ¼” thick glass panels were placed on the sand and heated to softening so they would pick up the pattern. They were then colored and tempered. I used the big furnaces operated by Stew Langer – Custom Glassworks and Design in Kansas City, KS. where we fabricate the panels and build the wood frame. All the parts were shipped to Albuquerque and installed in one day.
